Tiny House Adventure: Our Stay at Getaway House

Two weeks ago we had the opportunity to travel to Asheboro, North Carolina for a little adventure at Getaway House (hosted). This was our first stay in a tiny house and we were so excited for a new kind of adventure!

Getaway makes it incredibly easy to check in without having to make any face to face contact with anyone else. The day of arrival they text you the code for the door and any other instructions needed and that’s it! We loved that while our tiny house was a good distance from anyone else, and privacy wasn’t an issue, there was still a comfort of knowing that other humans weren’t too far away in case you needed help for any reason.

The inside was pristinely clean and came with SO many amenities. Along with a private bath and shower we chose a cabin with two beds in a loft bunk style. The kitchen was stocked with everything you could need for cooking and eating. Along with a small fridge there was a small stovetop, kettle, utensils, pots/pans, plates, cups, etc. There were also additional provisions that could be purchased if you forgot to pick something up at the store.

We thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor eating area and campfire. You can bring your own wood or purchase from the supply at your tiny house, lighters are provided and ours were found in the kitchen. S’mores were had and very much enjoyed!

While we felt completely immersed in nature we were just a short drive away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We were able to enjoy visits to the North Carolina Zoo and the North Carolina Transportation Museum which were both just a small drive away and perfect for daytime activities for my little ones.

This trip was exactly what we needed to regroup before face-to-face school started back up. I could not have been more impressed with how easy booking was, the excellent communication we received from the Getaway staff, the cleanliness, and how perfect this stay was to have an adventure while also continuing to practice social distancing.
